SL x NKB Collaboration| Celestial Inspiration Shoot | New Jersey Portrait Photographer

When my go to makeup galpal Samantha Linn, asked to collaborate on a shoot with fun makeup, I knew that I was all in! The second she said glitter, I nearly fell off my chair but knew that if anyone was going to make glitter look dreamy and nostalgic it was the queen herself!!
Samantha and I have been chatting so much about just creating - the pandemic really put us at a disadvantage when we couldn’t practice our craft as often as we’d like. So this Celestial Editorial Shoot was perfect for us to bring our creative visions to life and embark on a project called SL x NKB Collaboration.

Want to know the story behind the shoot? Let’s go:
Remember when you were a kid and you’d love to play dress-up, just for fun? When did that stop? And do you ever wish you could get it back?  After the last year, I’ve been craving the “girly” indulgences from my past more than ever.

One of the ways I’ve made it through the pandemic was enjoying nostalgic things and sharing them with my kids, from music to high school cheer videos to old pictures. Something I did as a teen was explore different makeup looks and glitter and stars were all part of that fun exploration.

It is amazing how the use of props, wardrobe and makeup can transform your images and overall experience in a photo shoot. I love creating unique experiences for families through various outside elements. For Samantha, that included glitter, outside the box makeup looks, and soft textures!

If you’re in the mood to play a little dress-up so that your future self can look back on this monumental time in your life… let’s talk!

Photography has really helped me remember what life was like “back then” and it has absolutely influenced my options on the importance of printed images and albums.

My printing lab, Photovision, is offering free prints and it’s been really great to physically hold and view the images just as they were created. Laying them out helps to tell the story (as you can see above).
