Hoehn Family Fall Session

These little ladies are just precious, don’t you think! The Hoehn family was so much fun to photograph. It was a beautiful fall morning and these girls just love each other so much! Mama did a fantastic job getting everyone outfitted for our day. The cuteness overload is real!

I often get asked if I have any tips for selecting outfits for family sessions- especially when dressing more than one child. First, don’t put too much pressure on yourself! The focus should be on capturing the important moments as a family. While I 100% support and encourage you to plan ahead for your wardrobe choices, sometimes life happens. BUT, if you have the time and ability to pre-plan your attire choices…

My top tip for dressing multiple children for a photo session:

Stick with one store and season to have coordinating not matching outfits. My favorite stores for family session outfits are Zara, H&M, Nora lee, Jamie Kay, Rylee and Cru, Maisonette, Joyfolie, and of course, Target!

Another thing that comes up is “what if my baby/child/kids don’t cooperate during our photo session.”

Here is the thing- it’s bound to happen and it’s OKAY! That why I love to approach sessions with an open mind and heart. Let the littles lead the way (or at least let them think they do). To help keep them on task, but distracted just enough:

  • Give them a task

  • Put the attention on the big kids first

  • Let them run around

  • Ask them to bring a favorite toy (so I can ask them about it)

You will always put more pressure on yourself than necessary when in comes to corralling the cats, errr, children. I have kids too- I know how it is and promise not to judge you for any misbehavior. Heck, some of the best photos are the ones of our children being, well, them!

I love this series of black and whites. These would be gorgeous hung on the wall or frames as a set.
