COVID-19 Coronavirus Update from NKB Photo

Unprecedented is an understatement.
— Kevin Birn, Market Analyst

Wow, guys. What an intense week (and it's only Tuesday). Of course, I'm referring to the Covid-19/Coronavirus pandemic. I can't even believe I'm typing that.  When the ball dropped earlier this year and we entered 2020, I was filled with so much hope and excitement. And although I like to think I'm holding on to that,  it's hard as a small business owner to put into words how I'm feeling. Along with my fellow photographers, industry peers and small business owners- the world, as we know it, has come to an abrupt halt. With all the noise online and all the panic, worry and confusion, it's overwhelming me in every way. The Type 6 Enneagram in me is feeling all of it!

I won't pretend that I'm not anxious. However, I also recognize that we're all in this together. Nobody knows how this is going to end. So I'm doing my best to keep LIVING, as fully as possible. To stay in the present with my girls and my husband and to keep my body moving & nourished. I will continue to fill my IG stories with joyful moments of both my family life as well as my attempt to stay active and healthy - I encourage YOU to join me.

And with all the anxiety around the pandemic, when you can also “use this time to laugh with your kids

I'm also using this time to create content, work on some of my business systems and edit, edit, edit!  Keeping focused on the busywork, along with the work of parenting, is keeping me sane (and making me crazy- you know how it goes).  I'm lending support to the community in whatever way I'm able, even while practicing social distancing.

To my current and potential clients, I'd like to leave you with these thoughts & piece of unsolicited advice during this time of uncertainty:

Small business owners are trying hard to maintain the norm. We urge you to reschedule your events, versus postpone, or worse, cancel! I realize that many of you are with child or newborn and time is of the essence, but I give you my word that when it is safe, we will capture all the fleeting moments.

We, as a community, want to serve you and offer our help, let us. But also be aware that we too are human and have families to support and your memories are our business. We ARE in this together and when it’s all said and done, you’ll have had more moments with your family in these few weeks than you would have before. Try to embrace the ‘slow’, remain calm, and we will pick it up and create beautiful memories when we are able… in time. With that being said, …

Please support the 'postpone don't cancel' (#postponedontcancel) movement. Our families, yours and mine, rely on it :)
