Pregnancy Tips from a South Florida Photographer and Mom of Three

For those of you who may not know, I recently had a baby after a long struggle to stay pregnant. During this pregnancy, I made sure to take care of myself and enjoy being pregnant as I know it’s not something that everyone gets to experience. With that being said, I wanted to put a list together of pregnancy tips and top prenatal services I used in South Florida that you may find helpful if you're pregnant too!

As a disclaimer, I am not a medical professional. These are just things that I found useful during my pregnancy. Please consult your physician for personalized medical advice. Always seek the advice of a physician or other qualified healthcare provider with any questions regarding a medical condition.

Find a Chiropractor

First on the list of pregnancy tips is to see a chiropractor. Dr. Ian at Shtulman Family Chiropractic is an amazing chiropractor who helped keep my body in line as it was growing. With the adjustments I received, I slept better and I didn’t have constant lower back pain. I would consider adding chiropractic services to your pregnancy journey as they can help with the above issues along with many others.

Seek Out a Support Group

Next, I would recommend finding a group of people that you can lean on in your pregnancy.  The Orchid Nest is a group of birth and postpartum professionals who support you in your journey through birth and into parenthood. They offer a variety of services including doula services, hypnobirthing, and yoga along with classes on topics such as childbirth and baby care. Plus they offer postpartum care which I love because the time period after having a baby can be really challenging.

Find a Doctor or Medical Team that Aligns with Your Vision

I opted to go with Boca Midwifery which is a group of midwives, nurse practitioners, and doctors that provide prenatal services along with postpartum care. My doctor was located at this office and I liked having access to not only a doctor, but midwives as well. They are a group of caring medical professionals who listen to you and ensure you have the best pregnancy and birth experience possible.

Stay Active

This is common on most list of pregnancy tips, but staying active can help you have an easier delivery. I used the Melissa Wood Health fitness app during my pregnancy and I really enjoyed it. It offers a variety of workouts that you can do in the comfort of your own home. I really like that they have workouts geared towards prenatal and postnatal bodies.

Get a Foot Massage

I loved getting foot massages at Foot Haven while I was pregnant. As we all know, pregnant women’s feet get swollen quickly and I was no exception. It was so nice being able to sit down, relax, and have my feet rubbed! When I asked my friends for pregnancy tips, this was on all of their lists!

Pamper Yourself

Another one of my favorite pregnancy tips is to pamper yourself. I got the Eau Baby Prenatal Massage at Eau Palm Beach and it was incredible! The Eau Palm Beach is perfect if you’re a local wanting to pamper yourself or if you’re from out of town and looking for a luxurious way to spend the day!

Get Additional Sonograms

While most insurance covers a number of sonograms, it can sometimes feel like its not enough. I liked seeing my baby and making sure everything was going well, so I had additional ultrasounds done at Little Bellies. My girls loved being able to see pictures and videos of their baby brother throughout my pregnancy!

Preserve These Special Moments in Photographs

Last on my list of pregnancy tips is to capture these special moments through a maternity session. This is such a special time in your life that doesn’t last long, so capturing those moments will help the memories last forever. Pamper yourself with a full service experience so that you can capture your pregnancy journey through images.

This was a pregnancy that I wanted to truly cherish as it’s most likely my last. I was able to enjoy some amazing prenatal services that I feel made a truly positive impact on my pregnancy. If you’re local to South Florida or if you’re visiting, I would highly recommend checking out these businesses.
