Self-confidence, as a woman, seems hard to come by these days. No matter how much we try to love our bodies, we seem to find fault in them for something. Our skin is too loose or too scarred. Our bellies too soft. Our thighs jiggly, our arms wiggly. Instead of wearing our scars or our weight with pride, we wear them with shame. We compare ourselves to a version of ourselves that no longer exits and feel sorrow. Or we compare ourselves to others and feel envy.

The Body Project comes from an intense need and desire to restructure our confidence and find beauty in the “flaws”. To embrace every dimple, stretch, mark and scar and see them for what they are - a life lived in a body that serves its purpose.

The experience began with a model call seeking women for a body positivity project-the more “stripes” the better. Samantha (from Samantha Linn Makeup) and I were shocked when over 20 people responded within the first hour! We organized a questionnaire to help us understand why these women wanted to be involved in the project. Their vulnerability was incredible and humbling! We dove deeper and learned that some of these women were here for themselves, some have deep-rooted challenges that had been going on for years, while others wanted to teach others, including their children, the importance of being comfortable in the skin you’re in!

These bodies are beautiful. They’re strong. They hold memories and each image tells a story. These are better than Instagram perfect because they’re REAL.

Some of the ladies shared their stories publically here, here and here.

I highly encourage every woman to “treat” themselves to some true body love. You are beautiful and strong. Capture these moments - every day is a fleeting memory. If you would like more details about The Body Project or see the entire gallery, reach out to me on Instagram or via email.
