What To Wear For Engagement Photos | Florida Wedding Photographer

They put a ring on it and now it’s time to make it photo official! YAY! From a photographer’s perspective (obviously), your engagement photos are SUCH an important part of the planning process. Not only will these images often be used to “annouce” your engagement, they’re often printed on save the dates and used to display at your wedding. You put them on your wedding website and use them to count down the days. But you can ALSO use the engagement session as an opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera and get to know your photographer. I’ve put together some ideas for you on what to wear for engagement photos.

What to Wear for Engagement Photos

If you’re having a formal wedding, you may want to “dress up” for your engagement session. If you’re planning on laid-back beach nuptials, you may want to wear something more casual for your engagement session. Better yet, do both! Choose a dressy/formal look and a casual, comfortable style so that you have the versatility to choose!

If you’re unsure of what to wear for engagement photos, I love complimenting color groupings- which either means choosing something that contrasts well (think about the color wheel matches, such as red and white, orange and blue, green and purple, etc) or wearing the same colors, but perhaps in reverse (like Alyssa and Jake do below). You’ll want to keep your patterns minimal. If you want a little spunk, play with the textures of your clothing. You can always play it “safe” with neutrals of white, grey, beige, black and blue.

Side note: Your e-session is also a great time to test your hair and makeup team’s chops (I love when couples book Samantha Linn pre-session to work her magic).
